One of them is \u2018doppelt gemoppelt&#8217; &#8211; I love it! I mean, &#8216;too much&#8217; is just boring, isn&#8217;t it? A friend and I share \u2018zackig zackig\u2019 recipes as we both like quick and easy recipes, especially soups that are \u2018easy-peasy\u2019 to make and freeze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now these are called reduplicative phrases in English and used for emphasis. You may have heard of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nitty-gritty (essentials)<br>\u201cLet\u2019s get down to the nitty-gritty, shall we?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Topsy-turvy (lacking organisation)<br>\u201cHis office is completely topsy-turvy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hobnob (socialising)<br>\u201cHe\u2019s hobnobbing with the new neighbours again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fuddy-duddy (old-fashioned)<br>\u201cDon\u2019t be such an old fuddy-duddy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dilly-dally (waste time)<br>\u201cStop dilly-dallying around and get on with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Willy-nilly (haphazardly)<br>\u201cHe did that presentation rather willy-nilly.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But as I like to keep life simple, my favourite is definitely \u2018easy-peasy\u2019\ud83d\ude0a.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now, there are some German words and phrases that just don&#8217;t translate into English, so I have adopted them into the English language \ud83d\ude0a.
